The authoritative ancient Chinese text of “Shang Jia Jing Ja” or The Bible of Face Reading and Dwellings says as follows: - “The good and bad effects on a dwelling are entirely the results of energy passing through the main entrance. This is the same as taking in air through our mouth. For this reason the main entrance is known as the air vent......the top part takes in energy from the sky while the bottom draws energy from the earth.Energy from every level is taken in for better or for worse.” The above reflects on the vital importance of the main entrance.
The views
outside the main entrance are very important. There should be no obstruction
in the form of trees which can adversely affect the free flow of energy into
the dwelling. Other obstructions such as electrical transmission posts or
towers are also undesirable. Such structures can badly affect the electric
pulses in our body and distort the magnetic fields in our system. They cause
us to be nervous and can lead to amnesia.
There should not be any large rocks or boulders in front of the main
entrance. Rocks belong to the negative side of the energy spectrum so that
they will give rise to negative energy which is detrimental to the proper
working of our biological systems. Moreover, the presence of rocks in front
of the main entrance is dangerous for children playing there. The children
may try to climb the rocks and meet with accidents if they fall. The cracks
in the rocks can also trap dirt and create both a eyesore and can create a
sanitation problem. If there are rocks in the main entrance which is located
at the north or K'AN POSITION the female occupants of the dwelling may
suffer from tumours in their uterus or stones in their gall bladder. The
second born male will suffer from malfunction of the balancing organs in
their ears. Therefore, having rocks in different positions of the main
entrance will affect the occupants of the dwelling in different ways.
Also, there should not be any rubbish in front of the main entrance. If
there is any it should be removed immediately. This is to avoid the filthy
smell and bad air from getting inside the house which will badly affect the
occupants' health. At the same time, the main entrance should not face any
temple, church, jail, law court, hospital, cemetery and funeral homes. This
is to avoid any inauspicious and negative energy from invading a dwelling.
Such negative energy will cause the occupants of a dwelling to contract
sickness or fall into crime. If there is rubbish in front of the main
entrance located in the north or K”AN POSITION this will give rise to the
FLYING STAR POSITION of numbers one and four. This would imply bad plum
blossoms (bad personal relationship issues such as adultery, etc.) entering
the house.
The best positions to have the main entrance located are due east, south,
west ant north. If the house is sitting with its back to the north and faces
south the best direction for the main entrance is south-east. Other than
that south or east are also auspicious directions. Of course, it would be
best if the direction of the main entrance can be chosen to complement the
life fortune (Bazi) of the owner. If the main entrance is situated in a good
position and it is in harmony with the auspicious FLYING STAR POSITION then
there will be good fortunes for the occupants year after year. As every
person has different life fortunes based on the five elements of metal,
wood, water, fire and earth therefore it is necessary for the owner to seek
professional advice from Feng Shui masters to make accurate calculations on
the correct year fortunes to make the proper decision on the location of the
main entrance. In case of high rise apartments where many occupants use the
main entrance of the building the effects of the owners of individual units
are reduced. In such situations, the entrance to the particular unit in
question should be considered as the main entrance for the purposes of
deciding its effect on the owner of that unit.
The size and proportion of the main entrance must be suitable. It must not
be too large for a small house. This will have the effect of the entrance
overshadowing the house itself. As a matter of fact, too large an entrance
compared to the house will lead to the escaping of financial fortunes.
Savings cannot be retained inside the house. On the contrary, if the
entrance is too small compared to a large house then it is not conducive to
the free flow of air. This will reduce the potential of the dwelling to
absorb positive and auspicious energy. Also, this will not produce a
spacious feeling nor make a grand presentation.
